It’s been six years of partnership and there will be more to come – Instituto Superior Técnico renewed its protocol with Kearney, a member of the Técnico Partner Network. The ceremony took place on 26 November, in the Main Building’s Meeting Room at Técnico – Alameda campus. The event also included the presentation of the ‘Kearney Excellence Award in Probabilities and Statistics’ to Tiago Mourão, a Técnico student, for his academic performance (18 out of 20) in the Probability and Statistics curricular unit.
Now in its third three-year term, the partnership focuses mainly on the relationship with students, privileged access to the Técnico Job Bank, a Talent Search Meeting, a Merit Award in Probability and Statistics Curricular Unit and 100 hours of pro bono consultancy.
‘There’s almost a friendly relationship between Técnico and Kearney’, said Rogério Colaço, the president of Técnico, at the ceremony. The consultancy firm helped build the School’s current strategic plan which, according to the professor, ‘makes Técnico’s agents responsible as a whole and who has the mission of executing this strategy’. The president also emphasised that 2025 will be a year of reviewing metrics and indicators. ‘After four years of discussion’, which included a pandemic and the implementation of a new teaching model, “Técnico is a different institution”, he said.
Paulo Gonçalves, partner at Kearney, shared ‘Técnico has always been a great source of talent’ for the firm. ‘We believe strongly in excellence and are therefore very comfortable when we partner with Técnico, because we see excellence in Técnico’s teaching, research and the role it plays in Portuguese society’, he added. To celebrate this second partnership renewal, the Kearney representative received from Rogério Colaço a copy of the book “110 Histórias | 110 Objetos”, alluding to the Técnico podcast of the same name.
The Kearney Excellence Award in Probabilities and Statistics also includes a donation to the Department of Mathematics to improve teaching quality. João Rasga, a professor at this department, explained that the donation will be used to hire tutors for the curricular unit.
