According to IBM’s just-released study, about 120 million workers worldwide will need to train new skills over the next three years due to the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the labour market. In this way, Técnico+ launched the course on Artificial Intelligence and Data Science for executives, which took place on Wednesday, September 25th. About 20 executives, administrators and top managers of large companies attended the course.
Professor Arlindo Oliveira, coordinator of the course, gave the first module and explained the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in recent years. “Machines will easily perform repetitive tasks”, he said. According to the professor, “machine learning has grown in recent year and made some great positive impacts”.
The coordinator of the course stressed that one of the most appealing applications for companies is consumption models based on various types of data using AI. Professor Arlindo then explained the differences between supervised and unsupervised learning – two categories into which machine learning can be separated. According to the professor, this is the result of a joint work carried out by the experts of the 5 tribes of machine learning: the Connectionists, the Evolutionaries, the Symbolists, the Bayesians and the Analogists. Professora Cláudia Antunes explained each one.
Data Science, unsupervised and supervised learning, and text analysis were the topics approached during the day. The executives had the chance to test their knowledge through case studies on intelligent customer service.
