Ana Tostões, a professor at the Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture, and Environment and researcher at the Centre for Innovation in Territory, Urbanism, and Architecture (CiTUA), was elected a member of the Académie d’Architecture, founded in 1671 and dedicated to promoting architectural excellence and quality spatial planning. The inauguration ceremony took place in Paris on November 19, 2025.

In 2024, Ana Tostões had already been awarded the Médaille de la critique et des publications – Prix Académie d’Architecture, which recognises personalities who have enriched architectural debate through their research, criticism, and scientific production.
Ana Tostões’ research career has been closely linked to projects dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of 20th-century architectural heritage, the promotion of international networks, and the dissemination of scientific knowledge. Over the years, she has also coordinated initiatives involving Técnico students in applied research projects and academic activities, reinforcing the School’s presence in the international debate on contemporary architecture.
Founded by Colbert in the 17th century, the Académie d’Architecture is dedicated to promoting architectural excellence, the quality of spatial planning, architectural education, environmental improvement, and the preservation of archives related to the history of architecture. The integration of new members aims to strengthen international dialogue and consolidate the production of knowledge in the field of architecture.
