Técnico Students’ Organisations recognised by Caixa Geral de Depósitos at the 9th edition of the CA2ECTécnico programme

Caixa Geral de Depósitos awarded 19 students’ organisations, and their respective projects, under the CA2ECTécnico programme (Competition to Support the Extracurricular Activities of Técnico Students’ Organisations).

On 12th December, the Auditorium of the Técnico Congress Centre at Alameda campus, once again hosted the CA2ECTécnico Awards. This was the 9th edition of the awards supported by Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD). Almost two dozen Students’ Organisations and their respective projects received the prize money that will allow them to continue working and developing their initiatives. So far, 82 prizes have been awarded to 28 award-winning students’ organisations, many of them on an ongoing basis, totalling around 105,000 euros in prize money.

Rogério Colaço, president of Técnico, emphasised the importance of the school’s connection with the business community. “This is an indispensable mission for Técnico, because it is our understanding that public education institutions don’t make sense if they aren’t open and engaged in society. On the other hand, they only make sense if they prepare students to contribute to the country’s development. This is a mission that we can’t fulfil alone, which is why it’s so important to have partnerships like this one with CGD, Técnico’s oldest partner”, he stressed.

José João Guilherme, a Board Member at Caixa Geral de Depósitos, congratulated the winners and assured that Técnico can continue to count on the support of Caixa Geral de Depósitos as a partner. Pedro Monteiro, President of the Técnico Students’ Union (AEIST), congratulated all the winners and projects. “Técnico plays a fundamental role in national academic associations and it is you and these projects that make that happen. These initiatives, like the one supported by Caixa Geral de Depósitos, allow us to develop projects and show what Técnico students are capable of doing, and are a way of promoting the entire academic community” he emphasised.
