Two Técnico students awarded by TagEnergy

The Master's students Maria Alves Pedrosa (Mechanical Engineering) and Vanessa Yevdokymenko Filipe, (Energy Engineering and Management), were the winners of the TagEnergy Women in Energy MSc scholarships.

On 27th November, TagEnergy awarded two Técnico students with two TagEnergy Women in Energy MSc scholarships.

The President of Técnico, Rogério Colaço, highlighted the importance of scholarships such as the TagEnergy Women in Energy MSc in promoting greater gender equality.

Franck Woitiez, CEO of TagEnergy, thanked Técnico, the entire team that brought the initiative to life and congratulated the winners. Franck Woitiez also mentioned the importance of these scholarships in promoting the effort and work of female students: “I believe in a society that gives the same rights, successes and legitimacy to men and women. It’s not easy, as engineering and the energy sector employ mostly men, but at TagEnergy we don’t think it’s impossible. On the other hand, greater gender equality is crucial. This is an opportunity to support women, to support talent and to help you change the world.”

The Master’s students Maria Alves Pedrosa (Mechanical Engineering) and Vanessa Yevdokymenko Filipe (Energy Engineering and Management) were awarded their diplomas. The scholarship awarded to the two students will have a total value of 6,000 euros. The support will be split in tuition fees of up to 1,000 euros and the remainder divided into 10 monthly instalments.

Maria Pedrosa was grateful for the recognition: “I’d like to thank TagEnergy and Técnico for this opportunity. It’s an honour to have been selected for this scholarship, just like my colleague. I’d like to emphasise that this is a very important initiative in promoting the role of women and young engineers for a more balanced future. This scholarship will be very important for my master’s degree. I’ll be able to dedicate myself to my thesis on clean energies and invest more in my education”, she said.

Vanessa Filipe thanked those present for recognising her effort and work. “I’m very grateful for this scholarship. This is a very important initiative, as mentioned earlier. Fighting gender inequality is extremely important. The energy transition is a major challenge and raising awareness in society is important if we are to reach all the active agents when it comes to our carbon footprint. I believe I will be able to contribute to this mission as a professional”, she said. The student also said that the scholarship will allow her to invest in her education and further training in this field of engineering.
