Professor Rodney Ruoff , from Ulsan National Institute of Science & Technology (UNIST), a renowned researcher and expert in the field of science and materials engineering, was the guest speaker of the fourth session of IST Distinguished Lecture Series.
The event, organised by AC-PMME (Scientific Area of Mechanical Project and Structural Materials) – Department of Mechanical Engineering, was attended by students, researchers and professors who were curious about the speaker’s background, considered to be a scientific reference worldwide.
During the lecture, professor Rodney Ruoff talked about the working methods, the mechanisms, the stages of development and the motivations that guide his work. The researcher and his team have been developing new synthesis techniques of carbon materials, thus improving our understanding of its properties.
Professor Rodney Ruoff also noted that “it is always very rewarding to see your work becoming part of other projects”. When asked about the future, the professor said that “this is an area that involves a lot of research” and applications in other fields.
