In an age when technological advances are changing the healthcare landscape at an unprecedented rate, it is essential to understand the role of regulation in healthcare technologies.
As a partnership between Instituto Superior Técnico and the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon, and benefiting from the participation of experts from industry, regulatory agencies, and academia, this MOOC offers a multidisciplinary introduction to how regulation influences the development, implementation, and ethical use of new health technologies.
Participants develop an understanding of the key concepts, methods, and challenges related to the regulation of diverse and emerging health technologies and products.
This MOOC is divided into five modules:
1. What is regulation in Health?
2. Regulation of distinct Health Technology Assessment technologies
3. Safety, efficacy and monitoring, and evidence-based medicine
4. Health technologies evaluation
5. Ethics and global trends
Access to materials:
• access to the course is free and fully operates online;
• during the course, the contents are always open and each participant follows the course at their own pace;
• the certificate will be available on the platform for those who have completed the course, achieving at least 50% of the evaluation scores;
• the course is only available in English.
Course enrolment:
1. Register (Create an account) on the MOOC Partners Técnico website. Técnico students must create an account with their Técnico ID;
2. Pre-register using the following Google Forms. The course will be open to the first 50 registrants;
3. If the enrolment is successful, the enrollee will receive an email.
