Forecasting can be very helpful to counteract intuition and biases, thus leading to more accurate and effective decisions. Forecasts are increasingly a necessity in organisations operating in the most varied fields, from the financial area to the analysis of consumption or biological signals.

More information and applications.
Forecasting helps with challenges associated with data swings, and it’s very important to understand its general principles, in what kind of data it can be useful, and what the right techniques for your organisation’s needs. The Data Science and Time Series Forecasting course introduces the task of forecasting, from the methods for creating classical models, to the training of dedicated neural networks. In addition to introducing essential techniques to describe and transform them, simple methods of classification and discovery of motifs are also discussed.
This course is part of the Specialisation Programme in Data Science for Engineers as optional. This edition will take place in online format, via Zoom.
Goals
- Characterise time series, recognising the most common time distortions and managing to deal with them;
- Apply transformations in the same space, and for different spaces;
- Develop classic prediction models based on specialised neural networks and evaluate the information discovered.
