Specialisation Course in “Radiological Protection and Safety” (Level ll): applications are open until 6th February

This course aims to provide training in Radiological Protection and Safety for professionals who work with ionizing radiation in various sectors of activity (medical, industrial, research and teaching, among others) leading to obtaining Qualification Level II – “Qualified Technician”, as provided for in Article 3 of Decree-Law no. 227/2008 of 25 November.

Objectives:

The trainee will be able to carry out the duties of the Qualified Technician set out in Article 9(a) to (j) of Decree-Law no. 227/2008:

  • Implement the actions determined by the qualified expert;
  • Ensure compliance with the safety and radiological protection requirements established for monitored and controlled areas and the correct use of individual dosimeters by all exposed workers;
  • Collaborate in supervising the activities of external workers in radiological facilities, ensuring compliance with radiological protection measures.

Target group:

Professionals with a degree in Physics, Engineering Physics, Technological Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine or other Health Sciences, as well as bachelors or masters in other areas of knowledge, subject to curricular assessment.

The curricular assessment will take into account the following elements:

  • The degree and area of academic qualification held by the candidate;
  • The nature and duration of any professional training attended;
  • The nature and duration of any professional activities carried out.
