Supply Chain Management is an essential area for any engineer whose duties involve part or all of the supply chain of a company or organisation. Proper supply chain management enables financial gains for the organisation and its employees, synergies, risk sharing and win-win results for all entities involved.
This course aims to teach the concept of supply chain, its management and the implications of decisions.
The Specialisation Course in Supply Chain Management is part of the Specialisation Programme in Engineering and Management as an optional course.
Objectives
- To understand what supply chain management consists of in an integrated manner;
- Characterise the various functions within these systems, from the strategic level, through the tactical level, to the operational level;
- Explore methods and techniques, seeking to provide the capacity for analysis, criticism and problem-solving in the area;
- Establish the connection between theoretical concepts and real cases – promoting the discussion of case studies and the use of appropriate tools to simulate the behaviour of supply chains.
