TecInnov Brisa is an annual competition designed to boost creativity and entrepreneurial spirit within the Técnico community. It challenges students to design and develop projects that address real-world challenges faced by Brisa, one of Portugal’s leading mobility and infrastructure companies.
Participants are invited to submit innovative proposals in strategic areas aligned with the goals of sustainability, safety, and digital transformation in the road sector:
- Predictive and intelligent maintenance, to ensure more efficient and safer operations;
- Smart infrastructure, capable of real-time communication and traffic flow optimization;
- Tolling experience, enhancing user interaction with payment and access systems;
- Road sustainability and safety, promoting solutions that reduce environmental impact and improve safety for drivers and operators;
- Digital training for operators, developing new approaches for continuous professional upskilling.
Each winning project may receive up to €2,500 in funding, along with six months of technical mentoring from Brisa and Técnico teams, supporting the implementation and validation of proposed solutions.

- Applications are open until 28 September 2025 and must be submitted through the online form available at: ist.pt/TecInnovBrisa2025.
Selected projects will be announced in October, followed by a development and technical mentoring phase starting in the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic year.
