Nuno Maulide, a visiting full professor at Instituto Superior Técnico, received the Arthur C. Cope Mid Career Scholars Award from the American Chemical Society on 27 August. The award, which includes a $40,000 grant, recognises and encourages excellence in organic chemistry. The award ceremony will take place on 19 August 2025 in Washington, DC (United States of America).
The Técnico alumnus has won three grants from the European Research Council (ERC) (2011, 2016 and 2018), a distinction from the Spanish Chemistry Society (2018) and the Ignaz Lieben Award from the Austrian Academy of Sciences (2019). This year, the Full Professor at the University of Vienna was elected a corresponding member of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences.
After studying chemistry at Técnico, Nuno Maulide went to Belgium where he completed his master’s and doctorate. In the United States, he completed his post-doctorate at Stanford University. He returned to Europe to lead a research group at the Max-Planck fur Kohlenforschung Institute in Germany and, from there, moved to the Austrian capital.
