José Bioucas, professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DEEC) received the IEEE GRSS David Landgrebe Award (DLA) for 2017, granted by the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS). The award aims to recognise “outstanding contributions in the field of remote sensing image analysis”. “Much of this work has consisted in developing image restoration algorithms of poor quality”, explains the awarded. “Some of the specific problems I have worked on, in several imaging modalities, are: noise removal, high resolution and image separation”, he adds.
According to professor José Bioucas this award is “due to the excellence of the research team and the material and human conditions created over the last decades.”
