About Alameda Campus
Alameda Campus was built under the direction of Duarte Pacheco and was concluded in 1937 by Porfírio Pardal Monteiro, who creates the first autonomous campus of the Portuguese university system.
Located in Lisbon, Alameda Campus provides privileged access to Lisbon’s main points of interest. The public transport network allows quick travels to all points of the city.
The different areas on campus allow students, researchers, faculty and staff to develop extracurricular activities, in a real university atmosphere.
The experience at Técnico is thus not limited to academic activities, a set of complementary activities are promoted, such as conferences and seminars on scientific topics, increasing a multidisciplinary culture.
Infrastructures and Services
Food services
Alameda Campus offers a wide variety of food services: 2 canteens (1 for students, and 1 for all Técnico community), restaurants and cafeterias.
Libraries
Libraries at Alameda Campus are free access and provide a wide range of information to the academic community, aiming to preserve Técnico’s documentary heritage.
Congress Centre
The Congress Centre at IST comprises 1 auditorium with 300 seats, fully equipped with the most modern sound and image technology, and 4 congress rooms with a variable capacity from 20 to 80 persons.
Copy Centre
The Copy Centre offers a wide range of services to all Técnico community, providing an effective response to all its users.
Sports Facilities
Alameda Campus provides the best sporting facilities to its students: a multi-sport field, tennis, squash and padel courts, and a sports pavilion.
Study Spaces
The Técnico Innovation Center offers a 24-hour study space, open throughout the year. Other similar places are available at Técnico, with different opening hours.
Parking
Parking at Alameda Campus is free. Researchers, faculty, staff and students are eligible for parking permits. However, students have access to limited parking spaces.
IST Press
IST Press aims to promote and disseminate engineering and scientific research in Portugal, through the publication of its books and, at the same time, to value the skills, knowledge and experience at the Portuguese Higher Education Institutions, namely at Técnico.
Kindergarten
The Kindergarten plays a very important role within Técnico community. It hosts around 110 children, aged between 4 months and 6 years old, and has dedicated and specialised staff that contributes to the well-being of children.
Garden Spaces
Green spaces are very important to all Técnico community. Alameda Campus comprises a considerable area of gardens, namely around the main building, (North and South gardens), as well as in front of North and South towers.
Analysis Laboratory
The Analysis Laboratory (LAIST) aims at water quality analysis. The applied research carried out at the laboratory, puts it at the forefront of knowledge.
Information Technology Laboratories
Information Technology laboratories are a huge asset on campus. They offer a wide range of IT resources and other complementary services, acting as a strong support to students’ academic work.
Stores
Técnico Lisboa branded products can be found at Merchandise Store, which is located in the Main building.
The smallest FNAC store in the world is since 2015 locate at Alameda Campus (Main building, ground floor).
Museums
The four museums on campus are distinguished by their valuable collections. Museum Alfredo Bensaude and Museum Décio Thadeu are located in Mine building. Engineering Civil Museum is located in Civil engineering building. Museum Faraday is located in Electrical building.
Bank Services
Banco Santander Totta (Santander) has a branch on campus. Several ATMs are spread throughout the campus.
Health Services
The Health Services are committed to diagnose and treat quickly and effectively, offering a wide range of medical specialties, respecting the dignity and the individual’s well-being.
Shuttle bus
Free shuttle service is available for the school community. The mobility between Alameda and Taguspark campi is made by free shuttle service from 7:00 am to 8:10 pm. The route includes intermediate stops at Sete Rios, Oeiras and Cacém stations.
