Art, Museums and Digital Cultures – International Conference (2021)

At a time of greater and ever deeper interest in the impact of information technologies on contemporary society, the International Conference on “Art, Museums and Digital Cultures” aims to provide a space for the discussion of current issues and projects relating to the crossover between artistic practices and the institutional sphere, with a particular focus on art museums.

The international conference will take place online, on 22nd and 23rd April 2021.

This two-day conference will include plenary lectures by keynote speakers, as well as thematic sessions that will bring together other guest speakers and authors selected through the Call for Papers. At the end of each session there will be a debate open to audience participation.

This conference is a collaboration between the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology (MAAT), and the Institute of Art History (IAH), School of Social Sciences and Humanities, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, under the scope its Art, Museums and Digital Cultures cluster.

Técnico is a partner institution of this international conference. Professor Helena Barranha (IST/DECivil; IAH) is part of the conference organising committee. Professor Ana Tomé (IST/DECivil; CEris) and professor João Nuno de Oliveira e Silva (IST/DEEC; INESC-ID) are part of the Scientific Committee.
