The book “Manuel Abreu Faro – a criar bases para a ciência em Portugal” will be launched on May 23, at 7 p.m., in Abreu Faro amphitheatre (Interdisciplinary Complex).

Manuel José Castro Petrony d´Abreu Faro was an outstanding figure in the second half of the 20th century. Abreu faro was a brilliant professor but never considered himself a scientist.

Técnico has been honouring professor Abreu Faro, by creating Professor Abreu Faro Award and by giving his name to the amphitheatre located at Interdisciplinary Complex.

The Archive and Documentation Department at Técnico, with the great support of professor Abreu Faro family, of those who have been his students, collected several information that illustrate professor’s legacy. This information can be seen at abreufaro.tecnico.ulisboa.pt.

Técnico pays tribute to professor Abreu faro once again by launching this book, which contains testimonials from José Mariano Gago, José Fonseca de Moura, Carlos Salema, João Sentieiro, José Tribolet, among many others.
