«Did you know that the future of plastics in Portugal is being redesigned collaboratively?

Another seminar organised by the C2TN Academy will take place in the Auditorium of the Campus Tecnológico e Nuclear of Instituto Superior Técnico, with the participation of the Pacto Português para os Plásticos.

This initiative brings together government, universities, NGOs, companies and other players in the plastics value chain, with the aim of driving the transition to a circular economy. Launched in 2020, the pact covers the entire chain – from design to recycling- with a focus on packaging and single-use plastics.

With ambitious targets for 2025, the pact promotes:

  • The incorporation of recycled plastic;
  • Reduction of problematic plastics;
  • New reuse models;
  • Design for recycling.

This seminar will debate the challenges of plastics and sustainable solutions, with an emphasis on innovations for reduction, reuse and recycling. Examples of good national practices will be presented and the role of collaboration between companies, academia and society in adopting a more sustainable economic model will be discussed.

The Pact, coordinated by Smart Waste Portugal, is part of the Global Network of Plastics Pacts, an initiative of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and the Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP).
