The Conference “Sourcing while respecting biodiversity: the case of food” aims at promoting an exchange of ideas around food sourcing and biodiversity between product managers of the food industry, the public administration, scientists, nature conservation NGOs and policy makers.
The Conference will take place in Brussels, on 1st March 2018 (09:00 -16:30). The morning session will provide an overview of project results funded by the Belgian federal administration on a tool that aims at providing recommendations on sourcing while respecting biodiversity. Additionally, new recommendations issued by the LIFE Food & Biodiversity project (of which IST is a partner) on effective biodiversity criteria for standards and labels for the food sector will be presented.
The closed afternoon session will be entirely dedicated to technical workshops in order to get feedback and advice on these projects in order to insure they meet existing needs and realities.
Attendance is free, but prior registration (until February 23rd) required. Participation in the afternoon sessions is restricted to participants with a demonstrated interest in the field.
The project “LIFE Food & Biodiversity – Biodiversity in Standards and Labels for the Food Sector”, funded by the LIFE Program of the European Commission, runs from 2016 to 2020 and comprises 7 partners: Global Nature Fund, Lake Constance Foundation and Agentur AUF! (Germany), Fundación Global Nature (Spain), Solagro and agoodforgood (France) and IST (Portugal).
