«The Department of Bioengineering (DBE) at Técnico is pleased to announce the seminar “From brain lesions to brain stimulation: neurology, neuroscience or psychiatry?”, under the “DBE Lunch Seminars”, by professor Albino J. Oliveira Maia, MD, MPH, PhD, from the Champalimaud Clinical Centre and NOVA Medical School.
Albino Oliveira Maia completed a medical degree and doctorate in neuroscience at Universidade do Porto, with the latter developed at Duke University, in North Carolina. He then completed clinical training to become a psychiatrist at Centro Hospitalar de Lisboa Ocidental while engaging in postdoctoral training with Rui Costa at the Champalimaud Neuroscience Programme. During that time, Albino also completed a master’s degree in public health at the Harvard School of Public Health, in Boston. Currently, Albino is Director of the Neuropsychiatry Unit at the Champalimaud Clinical Centre, Group Leader at the Champalimaud Experimental Clinical Research Programme, Professor of Psychiatry and Neuroscience at NOVA Medical School and Vice-President of the Portuguese Society of Psychiatry and Mental Health. As one of the leading experts in the field, in this seminar he will address groundbreaking brain modulation therapies for neuropsychiatric disorders.»
