The workshop, with no registration fee, and co-organized with HIDROMOD and the Operational and Technology Center for Irrigation (COTR), will take place at the National Fair of Agriculture (9th of June), Santarém, with the objective of promoting current services for supporting irrigation water management, with special emphasis on the new technologies developed within the FIGARO project.

The workshop will start by introducing the existing services available for irrigation water management support at the field scale. It will then continue with the FIGARO open day section, where all technologies developed within the FIGARO project will be presented.

The FIGARO platform collects climate, soil and crop data captured by soil water sensors and meteorological stations, which is then fed into weather forecasting, hydraulic and crop models, using real-time and forecasted data. The platform then provides accurate recommendations on how much and when farmers should irrigate. The system is modular and flexible, so that new technologies and agronomic models can be easily integrated into the FIGARO platform.

The FIGARO demonstrations and open field day will show both small farmers and large agricultural entities the benefits of using individualized irrigation recommendations that are more efficient and compliant with water regulation, while producing improved yield.
