«On 25 June, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., the Sustainability Unit at Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, in partnership with URBEM, is hosting another hands‑on workshop in the Técnico mini forest, a growing green space at Alameda Campus dedicated to ecological regeneration.
During the hands-on workshop (part II), participants will have the opportunity to:
- Monitor and manage competing plants: Identify and remove spontaneous weeds that might compete for water and nutrients with our young trees;
- Optimise watering and hydration systems: Learn and apply deep, efficient watering; techniques to ensure water successfully reaches the deeper roots before the peak summer heat;
- Mulch maintenance: Review and reinforce critical areas of exposed soil to maximise moisture retention.
This is yet another great opportunity to learn about ecological regeneration techniques, socialise, and make a direct contribution to biodiversity on campus.»
