The ILCAC, Inc. chose Técnico to host its Light Cone 2016 Conference. One of the main objectives of these conferences is to motivate and encourage young researchers in the field and prepare them for leadership roles in hadron and nuclear physics. The Light Cone 2016 conference (LC2016) will be held from 5 to 8 September, at Técnico – Abreu Faro amphitheatre (Interdisciplinary Complex).
Some of the topics will include relativistic models for hadrons and nuclei, as well as the strong interaction between quarks.
The conference will count with the participation of speakers from JLAB, University of Iowa, MIT, Cambridge, Stanford. The opening lecture “Trends and Prospects in Nuclear and Hadron Physics: a straight or winding road?” will be given by James P. Vary, from Iowa State University, and will be focused on key elements and new technology in hadron and nuclear physics.
The local organizing committee is chaired by Teresa Peña, from CFTP, and the conference is funded by FCT, JSA, Jefferson Science Associates, LLC, and Jefferson Laboratory.
