On Monday, November 7th, at 6.30 p.m., a meeting of the WordPress Portugal Community will take place at the Great Auditorium of the Congress Centre, in the Civil Engineering Pavilion at Alameda Campus. This edition will feature the presence of John Maeda, the current Global Head of Computational Design and Inclusion at Automattic.

Maeda develops work between the intersection of business, design and technology. Before joining Automattic he was Design Partner of Kleiner Perkins Caufield Byers (KPCB), where he was mentoring startups, and continues to this day as Strategic Advisor. He is also part of the Administrative Council of the consumer electronics company Sonos and of the Wieden + Kennedy advertising agency. He was a professor at the MIT Media Lab for 12 years and was later in 2008 president of the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), a position he left in 2011.

Maeda received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT and later obtained an MBA from Arizona State University and a PhD from the University of Tsukuba in Japan.
