The Environmental Science and Engineering Platform (IST-Environment) and the Marine, Environment and Technology Center (MARETEC), are pleased to announce the “Climate Education Kick Off (CEKO) at Técnico” initiative, based on the “Mural do Clima” workshop, in collaboration with the European Climate Pact, ZERO – Associação Sistema Terrestre Sustentável and Associação Transitar.

Registration for the “Mural do Clima” workshop is open to all members of the Técnico community (students, professors, staff, etc.), who will be able to debate solutions to the major issues of the energy transition and its impacts on the economy and society from a scientific perspective.

The “Mural do Clima” workshop enables participants to understand the causes and consequences of climate change and to become actors in the climate transition. It was created in France in 2018 and has already sensitised more than 1.5 million people around the world.

The opening session will be attended by Professor Miguel Amado (Vice-President of Técnico for Sustainability and Infrastructures) and by the Representation of the European Commission in Portugal. In the workshop, participants will discuss the causes and effects of climate change in groups and look for solutions, representing them on a Mural.

The programme of the “Mural do Clima” workshop is as follows:

  • 9 a.m. – 10 a.m.: presentation of the Initiative (Congress Centre Auditorium – Civil Engineering Building);
  • 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.: “Mural do Clima” workshop (Espaço 24 – Civil Engineering Building).
