«On May 25 at 5 p.m., the Técnico Innovation Center powered by Fidelidade will host the presentation session for the 2026/2027 Capstone Projects. The event aims to introduce master’s students to a pedagogical model that moves beyond the traditional dissertation format by emphasising multidisciplinary teamwork and the solution of real-world challenges.
Innovation, Multidisciplinarity and Impact
The CAPSTONE programme, promoted by the Management Board and the Pedagogical Council of Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, through the Capstone Committee, proposes an integrated structure throughout the second year of the master’s degree.
During the first semester, students take part in the 2nd Cycle Integrative Project (PIC2), focused on structuring the challenge, and in the following semester, they develop their individual dissertation within a collaborative project environment. This model creates a direct bridge between Técnico’s academic excellence and the needs of industry and society.
The programme will also include projects proposed and led by Students’ Organisations, further reinforcing students’ active role in creating innovative solutions.
Information Session and Networking
The session will include members of the Capstone Committee, supervisors, and representatives from partner companies.
The programme includes:
- Presentation of the Model: clarification on the application process, deadlines, and the articulation between PIC2 and the Dissertation.
- First-Hand Experience: a roundtable moderated by Marta Catalão, Industrial Engineering and Management student, where former and current Capstone students will share the challenges and benefits of the programme.
- Project Pitch Session: an opportunity for direct interaction where students can explore the projects available for 2026/27 and assess integration possibilities, including for degree programmes not initially foreseen.
