Applications are now open for CAPSTONE Projects, a type of master’s dissertation promoted by Instituto Superior Técnico, centred on solving real challenges proposed by companies, institutions, or students’ organisations. The 2025/26 edition is aimed at students currently enrolled in the 1st year of a master’s programme who wish to develop their dissertation in this area in the next academic year.
CAPSTONE Projects consist of multidisciplinary and collaborative curricular projects supervised by multidisciplinary teams of Técnico professors and researchers. The projects take place throughout the second year of a master’s programme and are divided into two phases: In the first semester, within the scope of the Second-Cycle Integrative Project course (PIC2 – 12 ECTS), student teams analyse the proposed challenge, study its context, and define the specific objectives of the project; in the second semester, each student develops an individual contribution as part of the team effort, working on their specific role within the project, under the Dissertation course (30 ECTS).
More than a dozen projects are available for the 2025/26 edition, open to students from 19 Técnico master’s programmes.
Applications must be submitted by 15 May 2025 via the CAPSTONE projects’ official website.
The Técnico Innovation Center powered by Fidelidade hosted a session on the CAPSTONE Projects in February this year, where students shared their experiences.
