«Professor Eduardo Alves will give his last talk titled “A História do Presente: Uma visita ao Laboratório de Aceleradores” on 21 June, at 2.30 p.m., in the Auditorium of the Loures Campus.

The seminar will culminate with a gathering in the gardens of the Loures Campus that will bring together all the colleagues and friends who have accompanied the researcher on this long and brilliant career.

Speaker bio:

Eduardo Alves was Full Researcher at Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa until April 2024. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Institute for Plasmas and Nuclear Fusion (IPFN) where he coordinated the Group of Materials Processing and Characterization using ion beam techniques.
From April 2002 to December 2022 he was responsible for the ion beam laboratory and a member of the Installation Commission of Instituto Tecnológico e Nuclear into Instituto Superior Técnico (2012-2013).

From 2013 to 2022 he was Deputy Director of “Laboratório de Aceleradores e Tecnologias de Radiação” at Técnico. His scientific activity is focused on the study of charge particle interactions with solids with an emphasis on radiation defects and plasma wall interaction in fusion reactors. He co-authored over 800 publications in reference journals with an h factor of 54 (ResearcherID P-5031-2019) and received the award “Estímulo à Excelência” by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (2004).
