Seminar “Engineering in Humanitarian Action” – Doctors Without Borders

«Within the scope of the Humanitarian Engineering UC, a seminar about the organisation Doctors Without Borders will take place on 10 October (Friday), from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., in VA2 Amphitheatre (Civil Engineering Building, Floor -1). The lecture will be given by the Doctors Without Borders representative in Portugal (João Antunes) and a Técnico alumnus (Luís Ferreira) who currently works for the organisation. The lecture is open to all Técnico community.

The speakers will share their experience of working in a humanitarian context. Although the name of the organisation doesn’t give it away, the organisation doesn’t just work with health professionals, but also with specialists in various areas, such as information technology, construction, energy, water and sanitation, logistics, among others. All Doctors Without Borders employees are paid professionals with previous work experience. Doctors Without Borders does not work on a volunteer basis or with recent graduates.»
