- Speaker: Arlindo Silva (Associate professor, Director of the NAMIC Hub@SUTD, Singapore University of Technology and Design).
- Title: Design in engineering: case studies from Education, Creativity, Additive Manufacturing, and Cybersecurity.
- Abstract:
Design thinking is permeating all aspects of engineering. It can beneficially be applied to multiple areas in multiple ways. In this talk, the author will show how this has been done within his research group at SUTD in different research projects and also in the assessment of the creative potential of his students and in the creation of a new Master Program. Axiomatic design in cybersecurity, digital workflows in additive manufacturing, assessment of creativity in engineering and architecture, and machine learning in creativity are some of the topics to be presented. Multiple avenues for future development of these tools will be highlighted and modes of collaboration will be explored.
