«The Centre for Marine Technology and Ocean Engineering (CENTEC) at Instituto Superior Técnico, in collaboration with the Western Norway University of Applied Science (HVL) and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) are promoting a Summer school on Human Factors for Naval Architecture – Design for Safety.

The objective of this course is to provide basic ergonomics knowledge to prospective candidates interested in ship design or operation, as well as to train them to be effective in the multi-disciplinary environments that will increasingly be the norm in the maritime industry.

This course will bring benefits to maritime safety and efficiency by improving the usability of ships and shipboard systems, the protection of the environment through risk reduction, and it might boost European competitiveness in maritime operations by increasing effectiveness and usability.

This Summer school is mainly aimed at Master’s and Doctoral Students from maritime education institutions where naval architects, engineers or maritime professionals are being trained, as well as students and professionals from the maritime and ocean engineering sector.»
