The U.S. Embassy in Portugal will organise a talk to celebrate the International Women’s Day, on 8th March, at 17:00 (Lisbon time).
Mamta Patel Nagaraja (Aerospace Engineer and Head of Women@NASA) will give a talk titled “Shattering the Glass Ceiling”.
Abstract: This talk will take the audience on a journey of one young girl’s dream as it began from the moment her parents emigrated from their home country to the moment she found success in a career exploring the universe. The talk will tell the stories of many leaders – and simultaneously mothers, sisters, and daughters – as they contributed to the space program and shattered the glass ceiling. The journey aims to dare the audience to dream big, see themselves in one of us, and find the path to their own success. The journey is one of emotion, triumph and downfalls. No journey is perfect, but all journeys take us to the place where we are meant to be. Join us to hear more and dare to be inspired!
The talk will be held in English and recorded.
Register for free at paslisbon@state.gov. Access to live streaming will be sent by email to registered participants.
On 5th April 2013, Dr. Mamta Patel Nagaraja gave a lecture at Técnico, under the partnership between Técnico and the U.S. embassy in Portugal created in 2011 – American Corner@IST.
