Applications for up to 8 CMU Portugal Dual Degree Ph.D. Scholarships

The Carnegie Mellon Portugal Program and Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT), have an open Call starting on February 1st (11:59 am EST I 4:59 pm GMT) for up to 8 Dual Degree Ph.D. scholarships to start in the 2024/2025 academic year, in ICT related areas.

The applications are currently open and must be submitted online directly at CMU. Specific application deadlines for each one of the five Ph.D. programs available are the following:

  • February 8th, 2024 (11:59 pm EST I 04:59 am GMT): Software Engineering (SE) and Societal Computing (SC);
  • February 14th, 2024 (11:59 pm EST I 04:59 am GMT): Computer Science (CS), Language Technologies (LTI);
  • February 28th, 2024 (11:59 pm EST I 04:59 am GMT): Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) and Engineering and Public Policy (EPP).

Please note that each Ph.D. has its own application process: Software Engineering (SE); Societal Computing (SC), Computer Science (CS), Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), Engineering and Public Policy (EPP) and Language Technologies (LTI).

The Dual Degree Ph.Ds. fellowships allow students to spend three years in Portugal and two years in Pittsburgh, integrated as regular students at Carnegie Mellon University. Upon completing the Ph.D., the student is granted two diplomas, one from his selected Portuguese university and one from CMU.

The two years at CMU are one of the distinctive features of these Programs, giving students the opportunity to be integrated into the CMU scientific community and become part of the ecosystem of one of the most prestigious Universities in ICT.
