The Naval Engineering Student Group (NAEN) organised the 10th Naval Engineering Conference on 28th February and 1st March, at Técnico – Alameda campus, in Abreu Faro Amphitheatre.
The event aims “to make known the different areas of intervention of Naval Engineering, as well as the different career paths”, explained Mariana Domingos, president of NAEN.
During two days, 50 participants had the opportunity to attend several lectures and participate in activities such as the “NAEN Tables”, where they could interact with company representatives in an informal way.
At the closing session, three alumni shared their professional experiences with the participants. The questions posed by the moderator Mariana Domingos, and by the audience, Ana Costa, Joana Franco and Hugo Loureiro were always answered.
The alumni stressed the importance of extracurricular activities, namely those promoted by NAEN and Técnico Solar Boat. Ana Costa highlighted the “soft skills acquired” in the first one, and considered the last one “to be more balanced in hard and soft skills”. In relation to the need for initiatives such as the Naval Engineering Conference, Hugo Loureiro shared “I found my first job at a job fair”.
