11 Técnico students were awarded Gulbenkian New Talents Scholarships 2025

The scholarship is aimed at outstanding students enrolled in higher education in Portugal, supporting their talent and encouraging early engagement with research.

Eleven students from Instituto Superior Técnico were awarded Gulbenkian New Talent Scholarships by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. This scholarship is aimed at outstanding students enrolled in higher education in Portugal, supporting their talent and encouraging early engagement with research.

Técnico awarded students:

  • Biomedical Engineering: Catarina Ruivo;
  • Engineering Physics: Ana Armada, Duarte Faustino, Gonçalo Roriz, Maria de Alvito, Miguel Gama, Tiago Rebelo;
  • Chemical Engineering: Kevin de Lima;
  • Applied Mathematics and Computation: Afonso Francisco, Apolo Gomes, Jing Xu.

The Scholarship offers up to €3,500 annually to support outstanding students enrolled in Portuguese higher education through an immersive talent development programme, in which scholarship recipients are mentored by tutors and a scientific committee, and participate in events like scientific retreats and workshops. 

Scholarship recipients are given the opportunity to take advanced training courses, participate in conferences and summer schools; internships, language courses, and purchase books and laboratory supplies.
