AEIST Jobshop – a window into the business world

Throughout three days, dozens of representatives from different companies shared tips to achieve career success.

The 30th edition of AEIST Jobshop, organised by the Students Union at Instituto Superior Técnico, ended yesterday, May 10, and attracted more than 70 national and international companies. Hundreds of students attended this 3-day event to contact with representatives from different companies and to learn more about job opportunities. “The younger students have the opportunity to contact with the job market for the first time. The older students and finalists who are looking for curricular or professional internships can find possible job offers”, explains Alexandre Passos, president of AEIST.

According to Ricardo Oliveira, from the organisation team, “this year we improved last edition’s activities according to the needs of our students thus facilitating the link between students and companies”. During the event the participants could access to AEIST Job Bank using a QR code and be informed about the job offers.

Although Jobshop is addressed to all students, there was a special focus on final year students: they had the opportunity to give an elevator pitch, presenting themselves to companies as the perfect candidate. “I am part of the organising team for 3 years; we know that every year companies successfully network with our students and occasionally they hire”, refers Ricardo Oliveira.

Talkdesk was one of the companies that attended Jobshop for the first time. “We have a special link to Técnico because the two founders of Talkdesk studied here; there are a lot of job opportunities so it made perfect sense to be here”, stresses Daniela Barros, HR Specialist & Senior Talent Acquisition at Talkdesk.

This year’s edition also included several workshops and spaces that promoted the interaction between students and AEIST. “Everything here is carefully planned in order to create a great atmosphere. We have a very positive feedback from companies”, highlights Ricardo Oliveira.

The students leave Jobshop with the certainty that a lot of opportunities will be awaiting for them.
