Arquimedia – Web Plataform to help study for the National Exams in Portugal

This project was developed in the Técnico students group "Hackershool"... - All the work done is voluntary, and so, Arquimedia is built by students for students, for free.

Arquimedia is a new web platform to help with autonomous study, available at arquimedia.pt, essential to be successful in the national Portuguese exams. With questions from previous exams, personalized exam generation, a gamified experience and a performance index, Arquimedia came to revolutionize national exam preparation.

The user has the chance to build his own exam, choosing the subject, year and themes he wants to practice. He can also leave that up to the platform, and trust it’s automatically generated exams that fit the user’s weak points, selecting questions that the user got wrong or that he never answered.

The performance index solves one of the biggest problems in autonomous study, the lack of feedback. This index goes from 0 to 100 and is calculated using data like the number of answered questions, the performance on the last exams and the number of correct answers.

To make studying a more pleasant event, there’s an XP system, where users gain more points while studying and can then compete for the podiums in the daily, monthly and general leaderboards. This competitive aspect of the platform helps bring the best out of each user, making them reach their full potential.

This project was developed in the Instituto Superior Técnico students group, Hackershool, founded in 2012. All the work done in this group is voluntary, and so, Arquimedia is built by students for students, for free.

At the moment 4 students work in the project, Jerónimo Mendes and Afonso Domingues, students of Computer Science and Engineering, Miguel Dinis, student of Biomedical Engineering, and Nuno Marques, student of Applied Mathematics and Computation.
