Best practises recognised in the 8th Call of the Best Practices Observatory at Instituto Superior Técnico

The ObervIST's prime objective is to identify, consolidate and disseminate internal processes that constitute good practices in order to contribute positively and efficiently to the reinforcement of the strategic areas defined for IST.

Welcome Day for new technical and administrative staff

The Human Resources Division (DRH) organised the New Staff Welcome Day for the first time in 2022, aimed at all technical and administrative employees who started their contracts during that year. The event is part of the reception/on-boarding activity plan, which also includes the monthly welcome sessions.

“110 histórias, 110 objetos” – Técnico communication project

The “110 histórias, 110 objetos” project tells the history of Instituto Superior Técnico through the stories of its assets with recognised cultural, scientific, historical and/or pedagogical value, by promoting the School’s material and intangible heritage and its uses over the last 112 years.

Creation of a notebook with hexagons

With the collaboration of Secção de Folhas (Copy Section), professor Dulce Pereira Simão developed a notebook with hexagons to facilitate the drawing of chemical structures in lectures and practicals and in autonomous study of Chemical Engineering and Biological Engineering.

Técnico Open Day

The Técnico Open Day, first organised in 2022, started this year with a collaborative programme coordinated by the Communication, Image and Marketing Area, involving departments, research units and contact services, which included visits, presentations and experimental activities.

Internal Training programme in Human Resources Division (DHR) implemented

The Human Resources Division (DHR) implemented an Internal Training programme in 2021, which is intended for all its employees. It aims to facilitate the sharing of information between its units, clarify shared activities and procedures, build capacities among employees with new skills and expand specific knowledge.

FOSTWOM: an Erasmus+ project with impact in female STEM public

Funded by the Erasmus programme, the “FOSTWOM” project developed a MOOC in the field of machine learning and a package with inspiring resources which are aimed to attract girls into STEM areas and keep them motivated along the courses.

Mobility Open Day (MOD)

The Mobility and International Cooperation Office (NMCI) created the Mobility Open Day, an event where all their international mobility programmes are made public and members of the Técnico community who experienced international mobility are given voice.

Pan – European Seal Young Professionals Programme

Técnico is one of the partner universities of the Pan-European Seal Young Professionals Programme, which includes the European Patent Office and the European Union Intellectual Property Office that aims to offer students and new graduates the opportunity to work one year in these two institutions.

PDF – Training and Development Programme (2019 -2022)

The Training and Development Programme (PDF) was launched in March 2019 which aims to promote, capacitate and support the development of professional, interpersonal and transversal skills of the teaching and research Staff.

Project “Técnico makes a difference”. Model and Operational Plan for the IST urban solid waste management system. – BEST PRACTICE OF THE YEAR.

The project “Técnico faz a diferença” (Técnico makes a difference) was developed by the “Sustainable Técnico”, an initiative from the IST-Ambiente platform, to make the transition from the IST urban solid waste management system into an innovative procedure with selective separation and collection.

Técnico Partner Network

The Técnico Partner Network (TPN), was created in 2015, to respond to the challenges of strengthening ties with the industry, with the main objective of establishing and developing strategic partnerships with companies best positioned to, together, increase the value offered to the Society. The network’s activities are organised along the following dimensions: Proximity and talent development; Acceleration of innovation; Societal impact and strategic cooperation.

ScientIST: experiments in Biomedical Engineering area supported on mobile devices, i-cloud services and Internet of Things(IoT).

The ScientIST initiative created instruments to enrich the teaching experience in Biomedical Engineering study cycles, based on mobile devices, i-cloud services and Internet of Things.

Técnico PhD Student Club

The PhD Student Club was created in the 2020/2021 academic year with the aim of maximising PhD students’ and PhD graduates’ potential, by establishing a communication platform across all doctoral programmes, departments and research Units at Técnico Lisboa and making it easier to collaborate and actively engage in research, pedagogical and social activities
