Electrical and Computer Engineering Seminars Series use gamification app as a guide to the future

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Seminar Series (JEEC) took place at Alameda campus, aiming to show students the different career opportunities.

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Seminar Series (JEEC) took place at Técnico – Alameda campus, from 6th to 10th March, aiming to bring the academic and corporate worlds closer.

For a week, 11 000 future engineers could participate and attend a Job Fair, Inside Talks, Workshops, Doc Talks and Panel Discussions, involving about 70 partner companies and 17 guest speakers. The JEEC outdoor tent – where several companies were represented – welcomed thousands of visitors.

With the help of a gamification app (exclusively for Técnico students) it was possible, individually or in teams, to go through each stage of the game, score points and win prizes, in the two categories, explained Margarida Mendes, one of the three event coordinators.

The app, developed during the Covid-19 pandemic by Técnico students, allowed users to accumulate codes by participating in different activities, and earn extra points after completing special missions. Through the same platform, those interested were able to submit their CVs and contact partner companies via chat.
