Of the eight prizes at the ULisboa – redeSAÚDE 2024 Awards competition (four for Master’s theses and four for PhD theses, divided into four categories), five were awarded to Técnico students.
Simão Vitoriano de Castro (Master’s) and Hemaxi Narotamo (PhD) won the award in the “Aging / Cardiovascular Diseases / Neurodegenerative Diseases” thematic area. Rafael Pires Miranda (PhD) was awarded in the “Health Systems / Entrepreneurship / Digital Transition” thematic area. Sofia Filipa Rebola (Master’s) and Isabel Doutor (PhD) stood out in the “Oncology / Precision Medicine” thematic area.
The prizes were awarded on 22 November, as part of the 8th Annual redeSAÚDE Conference, under the theme ‘Developing knowledge and tools for Patient-Centric Care’.
The awards, worth €250 for the best Master’s thesis and €1000 for the best PhD thesis, are awarded annually, ‘with the aim of stimulating the interest of ULisboa students in health issues, encouraging research on new approaches and solutions for the development of the sector, encourage the dissemination of studies and works that, due to their characteristics, can serve as a reference in the promotion of best practices or support public policies in the health sector, and also to encourage knowledge sharing and know-how between the health, science and technology sectors’, as described on ULisboa’s website.
The interdisciplinary thematic network on Health (redeSAÚDE) aims to encourage co-operation between professors/researchers at Universidade de Lisboa in order to promote a co-ordinated response to scientific challenges related to innovation of products, processes and services in the healthcare sector.
