Green Week 2022 at Técnico had a program full of environmental sustainability

From April 19th to 22nd, 2022, the Alameda Campus hosted the 3rd edition of "Técnico Green Week" with several debates, pitches and interactive activities.

On April 19th, 20th, 21st and 22nd, the 3rd edition of Técnico Green Week took place, resulting from a partnership between the Association of Students of Técnico (AEIST)  and AmbientalIST. “The right time is now” was the slogan chosen for this year’s event, which aims to draw attention to the climate crisis we are experiencing.

On the first day, this year’s edition featured a reflection on the key lessons to be learned from the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26), held between 1st and 12h November in Glasgow, Scotland and a reflection on the events and natural disasters that the world population has been witnessing, with the aim of finding answers to the question “Where are we?.” David Ferreira, Social Responsibility Coordinator of AEIST said that “it has to be the whole society within its capabilities, its fields of action, to act for the energy transition and in the fight against climate change.”

On the second day the Técnico Congress Center gathered several speakers for an afternoon of debates, interviews and a Quiz Night, programming prepared to answer the question “Where do we enter as a civil society?” The third day sought to answer the question “Where do we enter as young engineers?” bringing together various workshops, keynotes and debates. “Green Week is different every year, so we always try to bring new things,” said Verónica Pedro, Director of Communication and Image at AmbientalIST and Coordinator responsible for Técnico Green Week.

The fourth and final day took place online, but also had a program rich in diversity and “with a more future perspective” as characterized by João Teixeira, Deputy Coordinator for Environmentalism of AEIST. To finish this edition, a cleaning action in Bela Vista Park wanted to move the participants from the position of spectators and bring them to action, with the promise of returning with more initiatives in the next editions.
