Innovation – the opportunity of modern education

Professor Vijay Kumar shared his experience and ideas, reiterating the importance of readapting learning techniques to the modern times.

Professor M.S. Vijay Kumar, Associate Dean, Open Learning & Executive Director J-Wel Massachussets Institute of Technology (MIT) was the guest speaker of another lecture organised within the partnership between the US embassy in Lisbon and Instituto Superior Técnico (IST/ACorner). The lecture took place on October 24 and focused on the potential of digital learning.

The new technologies – namely artificial intelligence and robotics – and their impact on an increasingly digital education were some of the topics addressed by professor Vijay Kumar, who also described a good professor: “a good professor is someone who works individually with each student, showing them the easiest way”.

The MIT professor shared several success stories of innovative learning models that had “surprising effects”. And, as he said, “technology will be our best ally in this journey”.
