Isabel Vaz has once again been named one of the most influential women in Portugal

For the fifth consecutive year, the Técnico alumna is one of 25 women elected by the magazine “Executiva”

Isabel Vaz, Técnico alumna and one of the winners of Maria de Loures Pintasilgo Award, has once again been named by the magazine “Executiva”, one of the most influential women in Portugal in 2019. Every year, the magazine “Executiva” highlights 25 women who stand out in the field of business, politics, science, arts, justice and media.

Graduated in Chemical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico in 1990, Isabel Vaz began her professional career as a researcher at the Institute of Experimental and Technological Biology (IBET) and she worked at Atral Cipan Group. In 1992, she joined McKinsey, where she held a senior consultant position for seven years, participating in banking and insurance projects. In 1994, she got an MBA from Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

In 1999, the Técnico alumna was invited by Ricardo Salgado, who was at the time the president of BES, to create Espírito Santo Saúde, which is currently Grupo Luz Saúde, owned by Fosun group. Grupo Luz Saúde “has more than 13 thousand employees in 30 health units, such as Hospital da Luz, in Lisboa, the public Hospital Beatriz Ângelo, in Loures, operating in a Public-Private Partnership regime since 2012”. Isabel Vaz, 54 years old, is also non-executive director of Sonae Capital and CTT. In 2018, she received Maria de Lourdes Pintasilgo award delivered by Técnico.

The list includes Marta Temido, the Minister of Health, Francisca Van Dunem, the Minister of Justice, Lucília Gago, Prosecutor General of the Republic, Elisa Ferreira, European Commissioner, and Leonor Beleza, President of the Champalimaud Foundation.
