José Miranda Scholarship once again supports Mechanical Engineering student at Técnico

Carolina Brandão has successfully renewed her scholarship for another academic year.

On 30 September, the Civil Engineering Museum at the Técnico – Alameda campus hosted the award ceremony for the José Miranda Scholarship. This marks the second consecutive year that the scholarship has been awarded to Carolina Brandão, a Mechanical Engineering undergraduate student.

Francisco Melo, the Vice-President of Técnico for Academic Affairs, took this opportunity to express gratitude to Rosa Miranda, the scholarship’s patron, for her “ever-precious help,” and noted that “the scholarship renewal is a sign of success.”

During the ceremony, Carolina Brandão shared that these have been “the best years” of her life, highlighting that studying “requires a lot of love for science and engineering”. She also mentioned that this scholarship – sponsored by the alumna and former professor at Técnico in honour of her father – makes her feel “one less burden at the end of the month”.

Also present at the ceremony were the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Paulo Fernandes, the Vice-Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering for Academic Affairs, Fátima Vaz, and the coordinator of the Undergraduate Programme in Mechanical Engineering, Luís Reis.

The agreement establishing this scholarship was signed in March 2022, aimed at supporting students enrolled in the Undergraduate Programme in Mechanical Engineering. The initiative is part of a series of scholarships promoted by Instituto Superior Técnico.
