JUNITEC innovation projects selected for StartUp Voucher

The POGG and THEMIS projects were selected by IAPMEI to be part of StartUp Voucher.

Two projects “made in” Técnico have been selected for the latest edition of StartUp Voucher programme – the POGG project and the THEMIS project – both created at JUNITEC.

“The two projects operate in very different areas of the market and have developed very differently inside JUNITEC”, says José Luz, Innovation Coordinator at JUNITEC.

The idea of creating POGG was born about two years ago: to design a platform that promises to revolutionize the gaming industry in Portugal, by bringing together renowned coaches and players with an ambition to improve their skills. “On this platform, coaches volunteer their time and knowledge through classes and workshops. The players buy and attend these classes and, at the end, evaluate the coaches, thus increasing not only coaches credibility but also players confidence on the platform”, says José Luz.

THEMIS was created in October 2019 and intends to leave its mark on the market, impacting on the work of Law professionals/students. “THEMIS intends to become the best software for lawyers, law students, and all law careers” explains the innovation coordinator at JUNITEC.

According to the Técnico student, these projects stood out from the others due to “the relevance of the solution presented in the current market and the composition of teams, which are technically very strong and able to tackle the difficulties and problems without fear of taking risks ”.

“We feel very proud to see our work recognised, but what really matters to us is the importance of this award for these two projects in the future” says José Luz. “JUNITEC is increasingly gaining ground in the Portuguese entrepreneurial ecosystem due to its highly skillful members, to which is provided an entrepreneurial and innovative mindset. This is undoubtedly something motivates us to keep working hard”, says José Luz.

The StartUP Voucher is now in its third edition and it is one of the programmes implemented by StartUP Portugal – National Strategy for Entrepreneurship, to support and help boost the development of business projects that are in the start-up phase, created by young people between 18 and 35 years old.
