Luís Ferreira was re-elected Rector of Universidade de Lisboa

On 8 September, the General Council of Universidade de Lisboa re-elected Luís Ferreira as Rector of Portugal’s largest university.

In his new four-year term, Luís Ferreira will prioritise teaching, innovation, science, internationalisation, and sustainability, according to information available on the ULisboa website.

Improving the university’s infrastructure, with 49 projects currently underway, also remains a priority for his second term, with a focus on the construction of new halls of residence.

The swearing-in ceremony will take place on 25 September at 3:30 p.m., in a public session during the Formal Opening Session of the Academic Year, in Aula Magna of Universidade de Lisboa.

Luís Ferreira is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, with an academic and scientific career spanning more than 30 years, marked by significant contributions in biotechnology and university management. He has been Rector of Universidade de Lisboa since 2021.
