Last week, the MOOC Técnico team presented a paper titled “Why flipping the class does not always work?” (“Work in Progress” category) in the international conference “Open Educational Global 2019”, held in Milan. “This conference aimed to highlight the importance of promoting an education based on an ‘open’ concept”, explains Alexandra Gomes, pedagogical coordinator of MOOC Técnico team. According to Alexandra Gomes, the conference achieved its main goal “by suggesting different ways to promote initiatives and develop open and accessible resources, without compromising their quality and validity.”
Creative Commons (CC) licenses were discussed during the event and this was particularly useful to Técnico staff. “Praising our coworkers for good work shows a professional attitude” says MOOC Técnico coordinator. “If we praised each other’s work we would all benefit more. We would be building trusting communities”, she adds. MOOC Técnico is based on knowledge sharing, but it “also invests in its resources, promotes strategic collaboration with experts who are willing to share their scientific knowledge in order to make it accessible for those who can benefit from it”, says Alexandra Gomes.
The MOOC Técnico courses are free and address several topics on Architecture, Engineering, Sciences and Technology. Created in 2016, the number of courses and students enrolled have been continuously growing.
