“I came with the aim of making contact with companies and learning more about my future career options”, says João, a 2nd year Engineering Physics student, and one of the 230 students who joined the 19th edition of Talent Bootcamp, with the ambition of getting to know the business world better. Held for the 4th time at Técnico – Taguspark campus, the event took place on 24th and 25th November and gave students the opportunity to develop skills, acquire practical knowledge and contact various company representatives, providing them with essential tools to take their first steps into the job market.
The event included various activities: pitch exercises and skills development sessions, networking with 178 companies, panels with sponsor representatives and sessions with alumni. The activities brought Técnico students closer to the business community, giving them the chance to prepare for their future careers and learn about the challenges of the job market.
This year’s event was attended by Técnico students, 30 per cent of whom were finalists or recent graduates with specific objectives: “I learnt some very important tips and suggestions about the type of questions that should be asked in an interview, which was a topic that I wasn’t very comfortable with”, said Sofia, a Data Science and Engineering student. “I regret not having joined this event earlier, as I learnt very relevant tips in a didactic and relaxing way”, added Eva, a 5th-year Chemical Engineering student.
Miguel Gonçalves, CEO of Magma Studio, the company that organised the event, explained that the aim was “to take on the commitment of guiding the students throughout the two-day event, helping them to understand their talent and to create accurate and sincere narratives to enable effective communication with companies”.
