Priberam Machine Learning Lunch Seminar focused on SUMMA

This seminar focused on the SUMMA platform, still under development, which will allow to control, disseminate and transform information.

Sebastião Miranda, software engineer at Priberam, was the invited speaker of Priberam Machine Learning Lunch Seminar held on March 21 at Técnico. The lecture focused on “Scalable Understanding of Multilingual MediA” – SUMMA, a Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Action, aiming to develop an extensible media monitoring platform to enhance multilingual and cross-lingual capabilities.

Engineer Sebastião Miranda talked about the whole project and its goals. In the end, the participants had the opportunity to preview the platform and “how it will allow a user to get all information produced worldwide, on the most different topics, at a user-defined time”, he summarised.

Priberam is one of the several partners in this project besides BBC, University of Edinburgh and Deutsche Welle. The project started in February 2016 and is arranged in different stages. Speech recognition, machine translation, deep natural language understanding including semantic parsing, summarisation and sentiment identification are just some of the features that will be available.
