Protocol between Instituto Superior Técnico and the Lisbon City Hall

The Lx Data Lab aims to use data from Lisbon municipality in the most varied fields of activity and has already launched 26 challenges.

Instituto Superior Técnico and the Lisbon City Hall (CML) established a protocol within the scope of the Lisbon Urban Data Laboratory (Lx Data Lab).

The Lx Data Lab brings together more than 13 partner institutions and has launched 26 challenges so far. The main mission of the Lx Data Lab is to use data from Lisbon municipality in the most varied fields of activity (transport, urban planning, public works, road signs, buildings, green areas, waste treatment, solar panels, etc.), in order to create solutions capable of improving urban planning, resilience, security, mobility, operational and emergency management in Lisbon city through advanced analytical solutions, tools for statistical inference, machine learning and other data analysis techniques.

The existing collaboration protocols with the various Research and Higher Education institutions, including Técnico, allow Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to access the existing Databases and to actively contribute to the resolution of Lisbon’s problems, through analytical approaches and predictive solutions.

The challenges launched within the scope of the Lx Data Lab are regularly published by Lisbon City Hall. Técnico professors and researchers are eligible to apply, as well as Técnico students, provided they are coordinated or supported by a Técnico professor. More information about the challenges is available on the official Lx Data Lab website.

Those interested in being updated on new challenges and information about Lx Data Lab’s initiatives can sign up for the email list created for this purpose.
