Técnico+: a structured response to advanced training

The presentation session included a debate on the labour market challenges for professionals and companies.

Técnico+ was officially launched this Thursday, November 15. The ceremony was attended by company representatives, Técnico faculty and students.

Professor Luís Correia, Vice-president of Técnico for the management of Taguspark campus and Head of Técnico+, opened the session and explained that “Técnico+ will be responsible for all advanced training courses at IST”. He also stressed that “we have the knowledge and the tools to provide qualified training and we are ready for it”. At the end of his speech, professor Luís Correia shared Técnico+ motto: “more Técnico, more training, more knowledge and more future”.

Diogo Silveira (CEO The Navigator Company), João Nuno Bento, (CEO Novabase), Jorge Graça (CTO NOS) and Rita Moura (President of Plataforma Tecnológica Portuguesa de Construção) participated in a debate on transformative technologies and jobs of the future, moderated by Catarina Carvalho, Editor-in-Chief of Diário de Notícias.

The president of Técnico, professor Arlindo Oliveira, closed the session and stressed that “above all, Técnico+ aims to respond to the needs of society”. Professor Arlindo Oliveira also pointed out that Técnico has a clear idea of how to make innovative ideas happen. “We want to welcome back people who have already left this school, as well as other schools, and to challenge them to come here and learn practical things that will be useful for their professional lives”. “We want that this project can be recognised in Portugal and abroad”, said the president of Técnico.
